Get to Know Me

To me, helping others is more than just a job description. Instead, it is something that reflects my innermost values and desires. I have found more joy in service than in anything material this world has to offer, and I am so grateful to work in a profession where I can follow my passion.

When I counseled for the first time as a practicum student, I supported adult clients who have developmental disabilities. This is an experience I deeply appreciate because I was able to witness and foster hope within these amazing individuals.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time practicing my faith as a Christian. Although faith is a huge part of my personal life, it will only become a part of counselling if a client makes that specific request. Those who do not share my faith are both welcome and cherished as clients.

I also enjoy exploring the outdoors with my dogs, writing poetry, and researching folklore from various places across Canada. I find that this self-expression and curiosity allows me to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

My curiosity will also be evident in my work with you, as I become deeply invested in your story and, more importantly, in acting in your best interest. I strongly value the autonomy of my clients and like to listen and learn about your strengths when finding solutions.

Anyone brave enough to look within themselves deserves the peace of mind that their counsellor values and supports them unconditionally. Even at your “worst” moments, you can count on me to still see your worth. Being imperfect myself, I feel deeply honoured each time someone entrusts me with their thoughts and feelings, and I strive to support you to the best of my ability as we navigate solutions collaboratively.

My Approach

Areas of Practice

I offer virtual counselling for individuals who are looking to improve their mental health, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. I am well-suited to help those who are experiencing:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma

  • Burnout

  • Anger

  • Major life changes

  • Social ostracism, rejection, and loneliness

  • The unique struggles of living with a disability or chronic illness

* In particular, I tend to connect well with people with autism, and I have a strong understanding and appreciation of the differences it can bring to a session.

Modalities

I believe healing happens best when clients are in the driver’s seat. My role is to walk alongside you and offer guidance, support, and practical strategies when you feel ready to engage with them. I value client autonomy deeply and believe that people function best when they live in truth and use clear, objective reasoning to make sense of their experiences. At the same time, I see no conflict between logic and emotional depth. I believe both are essential to human flourishing.

My approach is primarily person-centered. This means I bring empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard into every session, and I adapt my methods to meet your unique needs, preferences, and values. I have also trained in Motivational Interviewing, a collaborative and approach that falls under the person-centered umbrella.

When appropriate, I draw from other therapeutic models to address specific concerns. These include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Existential Therapy. For trauma work, I am trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), a structured and effective modality designed to help clients process distressing experiences with minimal risk of re-traumatization.

I also have experience adapting various approaches to better fit the needs of adults with disabilities, including Autism, Down Syndrome, and Learning Disabilities. I believe it is my responsibility as counsellor to consider accessibility in my approach so that everyone is able to receive the care they need.

For many clients, faith plays an important role in the healing process. As a Christian, I welcome conversations about spirituality and consider it a privilege to explore how God may be working in your life, always honouring where you are personally and spiritually.

Ultimately, every client is different, and I tailor my approach to ensure that the work we do together is meaningful, effective, and respectful of who you are.
